In Game 5 of the 1987 Eastern Conference Finals, HOFer Dennis Johnson cemented his Celtic legacy when he displayed his uncanny court sense and cut to the basket, taking the pass from Larry Bird and putting up a twisting layup at the buzzer to defeat the Pistons. Johnson bonded with teammates Bird, Kevin McHale, and Robert Parish to win two NBA championships in 1984 and 1986. When Johnson retired in 1990 he was the 11th player in NBA history to record more than 15,000 points and 5,000 assists. His number 3 is retired by the Celtics. On the front left tail of this green knit, are two Sand-Knit labels. One is the Exclusively tag and the other is size 44. Embroidered on the left breast is the NBA logo. Team name (CELTICS) is done across the front, player number (3) below that and on the back, and player name (JOHNSON) across the back - all done in white tackle twill. Johnson has signed adjacent to the front number in black marker, in our opinion rating an 8. This jersey is properly tagged, presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows excellent wear. Accompanied by a letter from MEARS, grading A10 and a letter from BECKETT for the signature.
