Louie Dampier was a multi-sport athlete at the University of Kentucky, playing baseball as well as basketball. Playing under the legendary coach Adolph Rupp, Dampier and Pat Riley led the Wildcats to the 1966 NCAA championship game. As a pro, Dampier played the entire nine years of the ABA's lifespan with the charter Kentucky Colonels, moving to the NBA's Spurs in 1977 after the merger. He was one of the best and most popular players from the ABA. On the front right tail is the "Rawlings" manufacturers size 40 tag. Across the front of the jersey is "KENTUCKY." On the front and back is the player number "10." Across the back is the player name "DAMPIER." All lettering and numbering is done in white on red tackle twill. This jersey is properly tagged, presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows appropriate wear. Originally sourced from the Colonels trainer. Accompanied by a Naismith HOF letter denoting what the Colonels trainer mentioned in his letter that has gone missing over time. It states in part, "Louie HATED mesh uniforms, especially the trunks because he wouldn't wipe the sweat off his hands...most of the time I let him wear his 1974-75 trunks."
