In 1961, Syracuse Orangemen football star Ernie Davis received the Heisman Trophy. Davis was the inaugural African American recipient of the award and was chosen as the top pick in the 1962 NFL Draft by the Washington Redskins.This lot features a signed program from the Heisman Trophy dinner held in his hometown of Elmira, New York. Davis signed the cover of the program in blue ink along with a personal note. Also featured on the cover are the autographs of Jim Brown and Nelson Rockefeller. In our opinion the autographs rate between 8-9. Also included is a VHS tape of the Ernie Davis Memorial Dinner. The tape is untested and its storage conditions over the years are not known.
