Arnold “Red” Auerbach was one of the most successful coaches and team officials in basketball history. He is best known for his time with the Boston Celtics, the team he coached for 16 seasons and served as president of the organization from 1966 and into the early 2000’s. Auerbach had an eye for talent and was able to make impactful trades to build his team. He was known for smoking cigars, especially on court when a Celtics victory was imminent. The cigar originates from a Leland’s auction and has a sticker on the storage box stating “Red Auerbach Cigar from the New England Card Show IX/Boston College High School/Morrisey Blvd. Boston, Massachusetts/January 6, 1996”.
