Known as “The Hitman”, Don Mattingly was one of the star players of the 1980s and 1990s NY Yankees teams. He won nine Gold Glove Awards, three Silver Slugger Awards, the 1984 AL batting title, and was the 1985 AL Most Valuable Player. This size 7 1/4th helmet has Mattingly’s number “23” on both the front and rear. Mattingly has autographed the helmet but it has faded over time. In our opinion the autograph rates between 2-3. The helmet is properly marked, has been presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows excellent wear. Accompanied by an ALOA from JSA.
