During his rookie season in MLB with the California Angels, Wally Joyner became a fan favorite and briefly inspired a sensation in which Anaheim Stadium was dubbed "Wally World," an ode to the fictional theme park in National Lampoon's 1983 flick with Vacation. The sweet-swingin' lefty batted .290 with 22 homers and 100 RBI as a rook and was named the American League's starting first baseman in the 1986 All-Star Game, becoming the first rookie ever voted as a starter by the fans. He even tied Darryl Strawberry for first place in the HR Derby. The Halos advanced to the 1986 ALCS, where they came within one strike of the franchise's first World Series appearance. On the front left tail of this white knit, is the Wilson EXCLUSIVE label with a size (42) tag attached. Adjacent is a strip tag with year (86). Team name/logo is done across the chest in red, navy and gold tackle twill. Player number (21) is done below that and on the back and player name (JOYNER) across the back - both done in red on navy tackle twill, with some fraying. Angels disc logo on the left sleeve. Joyner has signed in between the back digits, in black marker, in our opinion rating an 8. This jersey is properly tagged, presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows appropriate wear. Accompanied by MEARS letter grading A10, a NEWPORT SPORTS MUSEUM letter and a BECKETT sticker affixed.
