Featured in this lot is a canceled check from New York Yankees General Manager, Ed Barrow. The check is dated February 27, 2023 and was made out to NY Telephone Company for an amount of $75.23. Barrow worked his way up from a concession salesman in ballparks to working as the General Manager of the Yankees for 25 years. During his career Barrow created some important baseball traditions including the requirement of numbers on uniforms, retiring the first numbers (Lou Gehrig), and requiring the Star-Spangled Banner to be played at every game. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1953. Barrow’s signature can be found near the bottom of the check in black ink. In our opinion the signature rates a strong 7. Accompanied by an ALOA from JSA.
