HOFer, Ted Williams played his entire 19-year MLB career for the Red Sox, only interrupted to serve in WWII and the Korean War. Teddy “Ballgame” is one of the greatest hitters in baseball history and to date, the last player to hit over .400. His .482 on-base percentage is the highest of all time. The stats don’t do justice, but his accolades also include: 19x All-Star (every year of his career), 2x AL MVP, 2x Triple Crown, 6x AL Batting Champ, 4x AL HR Leader, a member of the MLB All-Century Team and his No. 9 retired by the Red Sox. Ted Williams is also a member of the IGFA Fishing HOF. Williams was known to seek advice and talk shop with other legends including one of his childhood heroes, Bill Terry. He once argued with Ty Cobb that a batter should hit up on the ball, opposed to Cobb’s view that a batter should hit down on the ball. In his rookie season of 1939, Williams ended up hitting .327 with 31 HRs and 145 RBIs. Even though there was no Rookie of the Year award yet, Babe Ruth declared Williams to be “Rookie of the Year”, which Williams later said was “good enough for me”. Inside the left pocket of this extraordinary blue Dugout Jacket, is the TIM McAULIFFE label with a white felt strip tag below, with ‘Williams’ sewn in cursive in navy blue. The left breast is adorned with a red and white chenille ‘Red Sox’ logo. This jacket is properly marked, presented to us as player-worn and in our opinion shows appropriate wear.
