On February 15th during the 2014 Sochi Olympics, T.J. Oshie went 4-6 in his shootout attempts to help defeat Team Russia 3-2 and secure Team USA a bye into the tournament’s quarterfinals. Oshie had the chance to go five straight times to finish the game after scoring on his first attempt in the first round, which is the procedure in international play, unlike the NHL. After Oshie and Kovalchuk were the only skaters to convert their attempts, the fourth round started with both men missing. Russia then went back and forth between Kovalchuk and Pavel Datsyuk while the USA stuck with just Oshie. In the eighth round, Oshie converted and Kovalchuk did not. Oshie’s crazy feat even earned him direct congrats from President Barack Obama, on Twitter: “Congrats to T.J. Oshie and the U.S. men’s hockey team on a huge win! Never stop believing in miracles. #GoTeamUSA - bo.” Inside the back of the tail is the USA HOCKEY / MeiGray Game-Worn label: USA09105. Adjacent is a Nike scan label. Sublimated inside the back of the neck is a Nike Swoosh and size (60). Below that is IIHF label. USA logo crest on the front. White Nike Swoosh on the right breast. Player number (74) is done in white on red tackle twill on the shoulders as well as the back. Player name (OSHIE) is done in grey tackle twill on a blue nameplate across the back. ‘sochi.ru 2014’ label on the back right tail. Fight strap intact. Oshie has signed the back number in blue marker, in our opinion rating a 9. This jersey is properly tagged, presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows appropriate wear. Accompanied by a letter from Photo-Match.com, confirming the match. Also accompanied by a letter from MeiGray, which states: “worn by #74 T.J. Oshie during the second period, third period, overtime and shootout of Team USA’s 3-2 shootout victory over Russia on February 15, 2014 at Bolshoy Ice Dome in Sochi.”
