Also known as the Wales Trophy, is a team award presented by the NHL. It is named for Prince Edward, Prince of Wales (later King Edward VIII). It has been awarded for different accomplishments throughout its history. Etched into the base of this trophy, is ‘NHL CHAMPIONS WASHINGTON CAPITALS 2017-18’. Etched into the other side of the base, is ‘H.R.H. PRINCE of WALES TROPHY DEVANTE SMITH-PELLY’.
