In mid-career, John made history by becoming the first "right-handed southpaw" when he had a tendon transplanted from his right forearm to his left elbow to remedy a tear that threatened to drive him from baseball. He missed the entire 1975 season, and his 10-10 record in 1976 earned him the Comeback Player of the Year Award. On the left front tail of the jersey is the "Goodman" label which includes the size, "46." Across the front of the jersey is the name "Angels" and on the back is the name "John." The player number "25" appears on both the left breast and on the back of the shirt. The letters and numbers are made of red on blue tackle twill. The jersey shows game-use and appears to have no alterations of any kind.
