John Havlicek was a part of the Boston Celtics for 16 years. During those years, Havlicek won eight championship rings and received NBA Finals MVP honors in 1974. He was the first player to score 1,000 points in each of 16 consecutive NBA seasons. "Hondo" was selected to play in 13 All-Star games and retired in 1978 as the Celtics all-time leading scorer with 26,395 points. Named one of the 50 greatest players in NBA history in 1996, Havlicek was elected to the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1984. On the front left tail is the Sand-Knit manufacturer’s tag with washing instructions and an attached flag tag reading the size “44”. Across the chest reads “CELTICS”. The player number “17” appears below and on the back and across the back is the player name “HAVLICEK”. Minor staining is present on the jersey. Also included are a matching pair of shorts with the Sand-Knit exclusive tag inside beneath the rear waistband and an additional Sand-Knit size “34” tag below. Faded handwriting is on these tags but appear to read “17”, “71-72”. Sourced from a close friend, this uniform is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows outstanding use. This beautiful jersey is in unimprovable condition, is hobby fresh and a true rarity. Accompanied by a Boston memorabilia dealer LOA.
