“Lefty” O’Doul was a baseball lifer with a career batting average of .349. This bat dates from circa 1929, the very heart of O’Doul’s short but spectacular career. Following up his .398 1929 season, Lefty hit .383 in 1930. Manufacturer: Hillerich & Bradsby Model Number: O19 Labeling Period: 1928-30 Length: 35 inches Weight: 33.5 ounces Wood: Ash Finish: Standard. The bat shows outstanding use with a handle crack and a small chip missing from the knob. Numerous ball marks are visible on the right and left barrel. Cleat marks can be seen on the handle. Branded on the front barrel is the number “2”. The model number is vault marked on the knob and the top of the barrel. An area on the right barrel has been lightly planed to receive factory side writing. Today only vestiges of the original inscription remain. The “Fr” in Frank as well as a partial return date of “-20-2” are visible which is an outstanding feature. This very special bat offers a glimpse into the history of bats and to the players that used them. Accompanied by a PSA/DNA LOA grading the bat a perfect GU 10.
