“Lefty” O’Doul was a baseball lifer with a career batting average of .349. This bat dates from circa 1929, the very heart of O’Doul’s short but spectacular career. Following up his .398 1929 season, Lefty hit .383 in 1930. Branded on the front barrel is the number “2”. The model number is vault marked on the knob and the top of the barrel. An area on the right barrel has been lightly planed to receive factory side writing. Today only vestiges of the original inscription remain. The “Fr” in Frank as well as a partial return date of “-20-2” are visible which is an outstanding feature.
