Yankees Hall of Fame manager Casey Stengel managed the Yankees from 1949 until 1960 and set a Major League record by winning 5 consecutive World Championships (his first 5 years with the club). He would go on to win 2 more World Series while capturing 10 AL Pennants during his 11-year managerial stint with the Yankees. Stengel was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1966. His managerial number of “37” has been retired by both the New York Mets and New York Yankees. On the front left tail is the Spalding manufacturer’s tag with an attached box tag reading the size “44”. Adjacent below reads the year “60” embroidered. Inside the rear collar is a strip tag reading the name “Stengel” which is partially detached. On the left chest is the Yankees interlocking “NY” logo and on the back is the player number “37” both in navy blue felt. There is a number change/restoration on the back with period appropriate felt and a tear next to the number “7”. Also included are a pair of 1959 pants with the Spalding tag removed from the inside waistband with an outline still visible. Adjacent to both sides are “Stengel 37” and “40 59”. This uniform is properly tagged, was presented to us as manager worn and shows wear. A MEARS tag is inside of the jersey however the LOA has been lost over time. Accompanied by a Photo-Match.com LOA confirming the match. Please note a portion of the proceeds from this sale will be donated directly to the Casey Stengel Baseball Center!
