Roy Face was the first “closer” and was the first pitcher to register 20+ saves in multiple seasons. When he retired, Face held the all time National League record for career games with 848 appearances. He still holds the single season winning percentage record of .947 going 18-1 in 1959. On the front left tail is the Rawlings manufacturer’s tag size “42”. Below is the player name “Face” embroidered in black chain stitching. Across the chest reads “PIRATES”. The player number “26” is below and on the back. All numbering and lettering is done in black felt on yellow tackle twill. This jersey is properly tagged, was presented to us as game-used and in our opinion shows excellent use.
