Following the 1956 World Series the Brooklyn Dodgers embarked on a five week goodwill tour of Japan. During the course of the trip each of the team members was presented with various gifts and mementos. This kimono was presented to Hall of Fame Dodger manager Walter Alston. Embroidered onto the front of the kimono are two baseballs and underneath these are Japanese writing, and on the bottom of the front is a nice floral pattern. Embroidered onto the back of the kimono is the "Dodgers" logo in white, and a "B" in orange. The kimono and embroidery are in excellent condition. Accompanying the kimono is a letter from Alston's daughter which details when and how it was presented to him.
