It is fitting that the symbol of Connie Mack's Philadelphia Athletics was a circus elephant, since Mack's team was the greatest show on earth, or at least in the big leagues. The A's captured the World Championship three times in four years from 1910 to 1913, led by Hall of Famers Eddie Collins, Home Run Baker, Chief Bender and Herb Pennock. This vintage team pennant is set against a black background and features an elephant rising up on its hind legs, towering over a circus trainer and the words "Connie Mack's Athletics," the team name spelled out vertically in capital letters. The pennant is 8-1/4" wide and 23" in length, and in excellent condition, with an area of repair on the lower part that affects some of the "C" and all of the "S." The pennant is cut into the white interior of an excellent condition black frame.
