The idol of many a Baby Boomer boy, Mickey Mantle was still enjoying enormous popularity in the 1980s when those boys had grown up and could spend some hard-earned bucks to see him put in an appearance at sports shows. The Mick could clean up for a few hours autographing balls and other memorabilia and this check made out to Mantle in the amount of $2,500 was his take for one such appearance. The check, dated April 4, 1986, is from Sports Collectibles Warehouse of Santa Ana, California and was endorsed by Mantle on the back in a strong hand in blue pen. The light gold-colored check is in excellent condition with an unobtrusive fold on the lower right. The signature is a near 10.
