Inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1974 Early Wynn won an even 300 games, registered five 20-win seasons, 2,334 strikeouts, 290 complete games, 49 shutouts, and 4,556 innings pitched. Wynn had his glove and a game-used baseball bronzed from his 23rd career two-hitter against the Detroit Tigers. The glove and ball have been mounted atop a wooden base. Usage wear can be seen through the outer layers which have some light cracks and chips. Attached to the wooden mount is a gold plate reading “23rd CLEVELAND VS DETROIT 2 HIT 1954”. Accompanied by a letter from Wynn himself that reads “This is the actual glove and game ball used by me in the game versus Detroit for my 23rd two hit game which I had bronzed and mounted” which he signed. Player attributed gloves with such strong and direct provenance are seldom offered to one of the baseball’s best pitchers.
