To say that the 1986 NY Mets were a cocky bunch would be an understatement. With players like Straw, Nails, Mex, Kid and Doc, the ’86 Amazin’s reached the pinnacle of the baseball world that October by defeating the Bosox in seven games, including one of the most legendary World Series games in history simply known as “Game Six”. This Champagne Salmanazar is equivalent to twelve bottles or six magnums was a part of that amazing celebration, coming to us from the personal collection of former NY Mets employee Jimmy Plummer. It was consigned by his widow. It measures a whopping 26 inches tall and 25 inches around the base. It is “Brut Imperial Moet & Chardon Champagne – 9 Liters” (a standard bottle of Champagne is 1.5 liters) that is unopened and full. Etched on the front glass is “METS MAGIC” and on the rear glass “1986” with the team disc logo. This rare piece of NY Mets history is accompanied by its original box with foam inserts. It will require additional shipping costs due to its weight and fragility.
